A Bit About Me

- I'm a twenty-two year old Canadian university student with a cat named Pandora.
- I love thunderstorms, cats, good music, literature, and I love my best friends, my boyfriend and my family.
- My dream is to teach highschool students, and I can't wait to (and will!) fulfill it! (Getting into teacher's college just made it easier. *g* )
- My interests are history and philosophy -- they're both excellent. I really like science too. And literature.
- I'd describe myself as a rationalist, and a freethinker.
- I'm unapologetically a feminist.
- I lean to the left, politically.... but I'm more moderate to center on SOME issues.
- I'm pretty down to earth, and I love to meet new people.
- Ipperwash Beach is my favourite place in the entire world. My grandma's house is my second favourite place.
- More than anything, I prize openmindedness, diversity, tolerance and unity.
- I adore animals and children.
- Reading in bed, listening to my favourite music, wandering around downtown into used bookstores, writing, bicycling and being out in the middle of a summer storm are particularly favourite delights of mine.
- I love to, and often do, sing out loud whether I'm indoors or outdoors.
- I tend of be full of random questions and opinions about life, the universe, and everything.

bo·he·mi·an
n.

A person with artistic or literary interests who disregards conventional standards of behavior.
(Also, just for interests' sake, Bohemia was what is now called the Czech Republic. Part of my family's from "Bohemia", while another part's from Slovakia. Cool, ne?)

The flame below represents the need and desire for peace in the Middle East. We're all humans. We all deserve dignity. Let's stop the bloodshed, and begin to embrace one another.

Here's a WONDERFUL Userbar I love, courtesy of LJ'er "arealqueen":

In terms of philosophy, I've already described myself as a "freethinker". Another way of saying it is that I don't belong to a religion, and prefer to keep my mind open. But there's one thing I'd like to say: my own philosophy in no way precludes me from talking to others. I love meeting new people (or talking to ones I've known a long time) no matter who you are, what you think, or where your philosophical interests lie. People in general fascinate me. I love making new friends, hearing new perspectives, and offering my own perspective to the world. I truly think that it's only through communication and understanding that we grow as people. I recognise the love and joy in living simply and as honestly as possible with one another. I love connecting with people, and trying to make the world a better place. I think that's at the heart of "living" itself.

And, overall.. I'd have to say I'm a pretty down to earth kind of girl. I'm going out with a guy I love to bits. I work on weekends, and volunteer with highschool kids once a week during the school year. This summer, I'll be volunteering at our university's pride library. I really like meeting new people. I don't drive (I actually prefer the bus), I don't cook very well, I'm unco-ordinated and a little clumsy, I try my best to be honest (but like all people, fail sometimes), I'm an only child so I'm probably a brat.. and autumn's my favourite season. My overall ambition in life is to get married, have a couple kids and a couple cats, teach grades 7-12 (I love kids anywhere in that age group) and write. I love to write. Anything from poetry to fiction to nonfiction. I speak my mind. I like to debate and discuss everything from politics to historical ideas to philosophical concepts to the weather. I'm very probably utterly sarcastic. I love to laugh, to kid around, and to make other people laugh, too. I swear every now and again. My emotions go up and down on a regular basis, so I'm neither eternally happy nor eternally emo-kid depressed. But I do show and share what's on my mind. I also try to be as compassionate as possible. I genuinely like people. Not all people, but most people. My general philosophy is to see everyone as a friend until I have a reason not to. My favourite food is pasta, and my favourite soft drink is gingerale. I listen to all kinds of music: everything from country to celtic rock to alternative to big band to classical. If there was one sentence that summed me up, it would be this:

I'm all over the place... and I like it that way!
